academy terms and conditions
These Terms and Conditions apply to all training courses provided by Chloe Taylor, trading as The Lacquer Lounge Academy (“the Academy”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
Academy address:
The Lacquer Lounge Academy
2 The George Shopping Centre
Crewkerne
Somerset
TA18 7LU
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before booking. They form part of the agreement between you and the Academy. If there is anything you do not understand, please contact us before completing your booking.
Important booking information
Please pay particular attention to the following:
● A 50% booking fee is payable immediately when booking.
● The remaining 50% will be charged automatically to the same card 14 calendar days before the course.
● Online bookings may carry a statutory 14-day cooling-off period.
● After any applicable cooling-off period, the booking fee will not normally be refunded if you cancel.
● Cancellations within 14 days of the course may remain payable in full.
● Students do not have an automatic right to reschedule.
● A maximum of one reschedule may be permitted at the Academy’s discretion and subject to availability.
● Attending the training day does not automatically guarantee qualification. Required case studies must also be passed.
1. Booking your course
A 50% booking fee is payable at the time of booking.
Your course place is not secured until the booking fee has been successfully processed and you have received confirmation from the Academy.
The booking fee forms part of the total course price and will be deducted from the remaining balance. It is not an additional charge.
Bookings are personal to the named student and cannot be transferred to another person without written permission from the Academy.
2. Card details and automatic balance payment
When the booking fee is paid, your card details are securely processed and captured by the booking and payment provider.
The remaining 50% course balance will automatically be charged to the same card 14 calendar days before the course date.
By completing your booking, you authorise the booking and payment provider to collect the remaining balance from this card when it becomes due.
You are responsible for ensuring that:
● The payment card remains valid;
● Your payment details remain up to date; and
● Sufficient funds are available when the balance is due.
If you need to update your payment card, you must contact the Academy before the balance-payment date.
If the automatic payment is unsuccessful, we will contact you using the details supplied when booking. If the outstanding balance is not paid within the timeframe provided, your course place may be cancelled and the cancellation terms below will apply.
Courses booked fewer than 14 calendar days before the course date must be paid for in full at the time of booking.
3. Course prices
The price shown when booking is the price payable for the selected course unless an obvious pricing error has occurred.
Any promotional offer or discount must be applied when booking. Discounts cannot normally be added retrospectively or exchanged for cash.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, travel, accommodation, insurance and optional starter kits are not included in the course price.
4. Entry requirements
It is the student’s responsibility to check the entry requirements displayed on the relevant course page before booking.
The Beginners Gel Polish course does not require previous nail qualifications.
Advanced courses require the student to hold the qualifications specified on the relevant course page. Copies of recognised and accredited certificates must be provided when requested.
If you do not meet the stated entry requirements, fail to provide the required certificates or provide false or misleading information about your qualifications, the Academy may refuse attendance or cancel your place. The cancellation terms below will apply.
Students should check before booking that the course and qualification will be accepted by their chosen insurer, employer, professional organisation or local authority.
Courses are suitable for students aged 16 and over. Students under 18 may be asked to provide written permission from a parent or guardian.
5. Statutory cooling-off period
If you book online, by telephone or through social media and are legally classed as a consumer, you will normally have the right to cancel within 14 calendar days beginning the day after your booking is confirmed.
To exercise this right, you must clearly inform the Academy that you wish to cancel. You do not need to provide a reason.
Cancellation requests must be made in writing by contacting the Academy through the contact details provided on our website or by WhatsApp on 07593 229131.
If your course is due to take place during the 14-day cooling-off period, you may be asked to expressly request that the Academy begins providing the service before the cooling-off period ends.
Once the course has been fully delivered following your express request, your statutory right to cancel will be lost. If the service has only been partly provided, the Academy may deduct a proportionate amount for the services already supplied where permitted by law.
Where digital course materials are supplied during the cooling-off period with your express consent and acknowledgement, your right to cancel those digital materials may be affected.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions restricts your statutory rights.
6. Booking fees and cancellations
Subject to any applicable statutory cooling-off rights, the 50% booking fee is non-refundable if the student chooses to cancel.
The booking fee reserves a training date for the student and contributes towards the Academy’s administration, preparation, course materials, reserved teaching time and loss of opportunity to accept another booking.
However, the Academy will not retain more than is reasonably necessary to cover the losses resulting from the cancellation. When required, we will consider:
● Administration and preparation already completed;
● Materials or resources already purchased or supplied;
● The amount of notice provided;
● The loss of the reserved training date;
● Whether another student can reasonably fill the place; and
● Any costs or losses the Academy has been able to avoid.
If the amount retained exceeds the Academy’s genuine loss, any excess will be refunded where legally required.
7. Cancellations within 14 days
If you cancel within 14 calendar days of the course date, the full course price may remain payable.
This is because the remaining balance becomes due 14 days before the course and a one-to-one training date is unlikely to be filled at short notice.
The Academy will take reasonable steps to reduce its losses, including attempting to fill the cancelled place where reasonably possible. Any amount retained will not exceed the Academy’s genuine loss.
Failure to attend without notice will be treated as a cancellation and the full course price may remain payable.
Cancellations must be made in writing. The date on which the Academy receives the cancellation will be used to determine the applicable notice period.
8. Rescheduling
Students do not have an automatic right to reschedule their course.
A request to transfer to another course date may be considered at the Academy’s reasonable discretion and is subject to availability. Approval is not guaranteed.
Only one transfer is permitted per booking.
Requests should be submitted in writing at least 14 calendar days before the original course date. Requests received within 14 days will normally be treated as a cancellation unless the Academy agrees otherwise due to exceptional circumstances.
If a transfer is approved:
● Payments already made will be transferred to the replacement date;
● The remaining balance will become payable 14 calendar days before the replacement date;
● No further transfer will normally be permitted; and
● Cancellation of the replacement date will be handled under the cancellation policy above.
Until a replacement date has been confirmed by the Academy in writing, the original course date remains booked.
9. Illness and exceptional circumstances
If you are unable to attend due to illness or an emergency, you must contact the Academy as soon as reasonably possible.
Illness or personal circumstances do not automatically entitle a student to a refund or transfer.
The Academy may offer a one-time transfer as a gesture of goodwill after considering the notice provided, circumstances, evidence supplied and availability. We may request reasonable supporting evidence.
Any goodwill decision does not create an obligation to make the same decision in another case.
10. Course changes or cancellation by the Academy
Occasionally, the Academy may need to change a course date, start time, location, educator or part of the course content because of illness, emergencies, safety concerns or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We will provide as much notice as reasonably possible.
If the Academy cancels a course or makes a significant change that means you can no longer attend, you will be offered:
● A transfer to another suitable date; or
● A refund of the course fees paid for the affected course.
The Academy recommends making refundable or flexible travel and accommodation arrangements. We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable or which could reasonably have been avoided. This does not restrict any legal rights you may have where the Academy is at fault.
11. Attendance and lateness
Students must arrive at the time stated in their course confirmation.
If you expect to be late, you must contact the Academy as soon as possible.
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, important theory, demonstrations or safety information may have been missed. Depending on the course and the amount of training missed, the Academy may:
● Allow the course to continue where reasonably possible;
● Require missed content to be completed separately;
● Offer additional catch-up training at an agreed cost;
● Transfer the student to another available date; or
● Refuse attendance where the course cannot be completed safely or properly.
If attendance is refused because of the student’s late arrival, the cancellation terms above will apply.
12. Student conduct
Students must behave professionally and follow all health, safety, hygiene and educator instructions.
The Academy may refuse entry or end the training if a student:
● Behaves abusively, aggressively or inappropriately;
● Appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
● Deliberately disregards safety or hygiene instructions;
● Misuses products or equipment;
● Disrupts the training environment; or
● Places themselves, a model or another person at risk.
Where training is ended because of serious misconduct, a refund will not normally be provided, subject to the student’s statutory rights and the circumstances of the incident.
13. Health conditions, allergies and suitability
Students must inform the Academy before the course about any allergy, sensitivity, injury, medical condition, pregnancy-related consideration or other issue that could affect their ability to participate safely.
Students must follow the product instructions, contraindications, hygiene procedures and safety guidance taught during training.
The Academy may adapt, postpone or restrict practical training where reasonably necessary to protect the student, model or educator.
14. Models
Where a student is required to provide a model, this will be explained in the course information or booking confirmation.
The student is responsible for ensuring that their model:
● Is suitable for the treatment;
● Provides informed consent;
● Discloses relevant allergies, conditions and contraindications;
● Arrives at the required time; and
● Follows the Academy’s safety and conduct requirements.
If a student’s model is unsuitable, unavailable or fails to attend, this may affect the student’s ability to complete the practical element.
A refund will not normally be provided where the Academy was available and prepared to deliver the course but the student or their model could not participate.
15. Course assessment and case studies
Attending the training day does not automatically guarantee qualification.
Students must demonstrate the required standard of knowledge, practical ability, hygiene and safe working before a certificate can be issued.
The number of case studies required will be stated on the relevant course page, in the course manual or in the information provided by the Academy.
Unless a different deadline is confirmed, case studies should normally be submitted within four weeks of the training date.
Case studies must:
● Be the student’s own work;
● Be completed after the training day;
● Follow the techniques and safety guidance taught;
● Include clear photographs where requested;
● Include any required consultation information or written reflections; and
● Be submitted in the format requested by the Academy.
The Academy may request corrections, further information or additional case studies if the required standard has not yet been achieved.
We aim to review case studies within 7–10 working days. This may take longer during busy periods or where additional information is required.
16. Case-study models and advertising
Until all required case studies have been passed and the student’s certificate has been issued, the student must not describe or advertise themselves as qualified or certified in that treatment.
When seeking case-study models, students must clearly explain that they are still completing their qualification and that the treatment is being performed for training and assessment purposes.
Students must not charge a full professional treatment price while completing qualification case studies. Models may only be asked to contribute towards genuine product costs where appropriate.
Students are responsible for:
● Obtaining informed consent from every model;
● Following the hygiene and safety practices taught;
● Checking whether insurance is required for case-study work;
● Working within the limits of their training; and
● Obtaining appropriate professional insurance before treating paying clients.
17. Certification
A certificate will only be issued after:
● The training day has been completed;
● The required knowledge and practical standards have been demonstrated;
● All required case studies have been submitted and passed;
● Any requested corrections or additional work have been completed; and
● All course fees have been paid.
The Academy cannot guarantee that every student will pass within a particular timeframe.
Students who do not initially meet the required standard will be provided with reasonable feedback and may be asked to complete further practice or case studies before certification.
18. Products, equipment and starter kits
Products, tools and equipment required during the training day will be provided unless the relevant course information states otherwise.
Any kit included in the course price will be clearly listed in the course description or booking confirmation.
Optional starter kits are not included unless they have been purchased separately.
Students are responsible for the condition, safe use and suitability of any personal tools or equipment they bring to the Academy.
19. Course materials and intellectual property
All course manuals, worksheets, templates, photographs, videos, demonstrations and training resources remain the intellectual property of the Academy or the relevant rights holder.
Materials are supplied for the enrolled student’s personal learning and professional reference only.
They must not be:
● Copied or reproduced for another person;
● Shared, uploaded or distributed;
● Resold;
● Used to create or teach another course; or
● Published online without written permission.
Students must not record training sessions, the educator, models or other students without prior permission.
20. Photography and marketing
The Academy may ask permission to photograph or film the training day, student work or certificate presentation.
Identifiable images will only be used for marketing where appropriate consent has been obtained.
Choosing not to provide marketing consent will not affect the student’s training, assessment or certification.
Students must obtain permission before photographing or recording models or other people attending the Academy.
21. Ongoing student support
Where ongoing or lifetime support is included with a course, this means reasonable access to the Academy’s available student-support channels for as long as those channels continue to operate.
Support does not include:
● Guaranteed immediate responses;
● Repeated delivery of the complete course;
● Unlimited additional one-to-one tuition;
● Assessment of work unrelated to the course completed; or
● Business services that are normally charged for separately.
Response times may vary around salon hours, training days, holidays and periods of high demand.
22. Insurance and professional responsibilities
Students are responsible for arranging suitable insurance before offering treatments professionally.
The Academy cannot guarantee that a particular insurer, employer, local authority or professional body will accept a qualification. Students should check any specific requirements before booking.
After qualification, each student is responsible for:
● Working within the limits of their training;
● Maintaining appropriate insurance;
● Following product-manufacturer instructions;
● Keeping their knowledge and skills current;
● Complying with health and safety requirements; and
● Meeting any tax, licensing, planning or local-authority obligations relevant to their business.
23. Results and business outcomes
The Academy provides professional education, practical guidance and student support.
We cannot guarantee employment, earnings, client numbers, business growth or any particular financial result following completion of a course.
Results will depend on factors including the student’s practice, ability, consistency, business decisions and compliance with the guidance provided.
24. Our responsibilities
The Academy will provide its services with reasonable care and skill.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or restricts liability for:
● Death or personal injury caused by negligence;
● Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
● Services that have not been provided with reasonable care and skill;
● Rights that cannot legally be excluded; or
● Any other liability that cannot be limited under UK law.
The Academy is not responsible for losses caused by a student failing to follow the training, product instructions, contraindications, hygiene requirements or safety guidance provided.
25. Refunds
Where a refund is due, it will normally be returned to the original payment method within 14 calendar days of the Academy agreeing that the refund is payable.
No fee will be charged for processing a legally required refund.
26. Personal information
Personal information may be collected and used to manage:
● Course enquiries and bookings;
● Payments;
● Entry requirements;
● Training and attendance;
● Case-study assessment;
● Certification; and
● Student support.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy published on our website.
27. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of your booking, course or assessment, please contact the Academy as soon as possible with details of your concern.
Complaints should be submitted through the contact details provided on our website or by WhatsApp on 07593 229131.
We will aim to acknowledge the complaint promptly, investigate it fairly and work with you to reach an appropriate resolution.
28. Changes to these Terms and Conditions
The version of these Terms and Conditions in force when your booking is confirmed will apply to your booking.
The Academy may update these terms for future bookings. The latest version will be published on the website with the date it was last updated.
We will not make a material change to an existing booking without notifying you. If a significant change disadvantages you, you will be given an appropriate opportunity to accept the change, transfer your booking or cancel without an unfair charge.
29. Governing law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Students living elsewhere in the United Kingdom retain any mandatory consumer protections and rights to bring legal proceedings available in their home jurisdiction.

salon terms and conditions
by booking an appointment or visiting our salons, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read these carefully before making a booking.
about our technicians
All technicians operating within the salon are self employed professionals who run their own independent businesses. Each technician is responsible for:
-
their own appointment diary and bookings
-
their own treatment pricing
-
their own products and services
-
their own payments and refunds
When booking an appointment, you are entering into an agreement directly with the individual technician, not the salon as a whole. Any enquiries regarding treatments, pricing or services should be directed to the technician providing the service.
salon etiquette
To ensure appointments run smoothly and on time for all clients, we kindly ask that the following guidelines are respected:
-
Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before your appointment time
-
Arriving significantly earlier may mean we are unable to accommodate you until your scheduled time
-
If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, your appointment will be cancelled and will be charged in full
Late arrivals affect the schedules for all clients and technicians, so we appreciate your understating.
age restriction
For health, safety and insurance reasons, we ask that clients do not bring any under 16s to their appointments. Our salon environment contains professional equipment, chemicals and sharp tools, which may not be safe for unsupervised children. If upon your appointment you bring any under 16s with you, your treatment will be cancelled and charged in full.
cancellations
We kindly ask that clients provide adequate notice if they need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
-
Cancellations within 48hours of the appointment will incur a 50% cancellation fee of the treatment price.
-
Cancellations within 24hours of the appointment will incur a 100% cancellation fee of the treatment price.
-
Failure to attend (no shows) will also be charged 100% of the treatment price
These fees apply because appointment times are reserved exclusively for you and late cancellations prevent technicians from filling the space. No further treatments can be booked unless any cancellation fees are settled.
gift vouchers
Gift vouchers are Nono refundable and non transferable between technicians and cannot be exchanged for cash. Gift vouchers are technician specific and can only be redeemed with the technician named on the voucher. Please ensure you purchase your voucher from technician you wish to book with. The voucher expiry date will be clearly stated on the voucher and cannot be extended. Vouchers purchased with Chloe (The Lacquer Lounge) are valid for 3 months from date of purchase. Gift vouchers purchased for technicians other than Chloe are cash only. Gift vouchers do not guarantee an appointment and are subject to availability and booking terms. Cancellations and no show policy applied to all appointments booked using a gift voucher. Late cancellations, rescheduled appointments or no shows may result in the gift voucher forfeited in full or part, in accordance with the technicians cancellation policy.
booking
You will find the links via our book now page to our technicians individual booking systems. A 50% non refundable booking fee may be required from your technician. If you've been a previous client and haven't seen us in over 6 months, a new client booking fee may be required to secure new bookings. Booking fees are non transferable between appointment or technician, and are non refundable. Again, please check with your technician for their individual policy direct on their booking page.
appointment changes
If you choose to reduce or change your booked treatment to a lower-value service within our cancellation period, this will be treated in the same way as a late cancellation, as we are unable to refill the time that has been reserved for you.
For example, changing an infill appointment to a removal, or changing to any shorter or lower-priced treatment within 24/48 hours of your appointment, will incur the applicable cancellation charge in line with our cancellation policy.
If you attend your appointment and decide on the day to have a lower-value treatment than the one originally booked, you will still be charged the full price of the treatment you booked. This policy protects the appointment time reserved exclusively for you and helps ensure fairness to both our business and other clients who may have been waiting for that appointment.
pets
Clients are permitted to bring one pet into the salon under the following conditions:
-
The pet must be clean
-
The pet must be well behaved and under control at all times
-
The pet must remain with the client during the appointment
The salon reserves the right to refuse entry to pets if they post a disruption, risk or hygiene concern.
right to refuse service
We reserve the right to refuse service to any client who:
-
Arrives over 10 minutes late
-
Displays abusive or inappropriate behaviour
-
Fails to comply with salon policies
-
Arrives intoxicated, or brings alcohol into the premises
academy
A 50% non refundable booking fee is required to secure any courses. Final balance is due 14 days before the course date. If final balance is not settled before 14 days prior to course, your course may be cancelled. To undertake our builder gel course, you must hold a recognised, accredited gel polish qualification which must be sent to us as PDF via email when booking the builder gel course. Upon completion of your training day, students will have case studies to complete before qualification. Course is suitable for age 16+. Optional student starter kits are available, please email us for more information if you require this. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your course start date, your space may be cancelled or charged a late fee so that we can catch you up any missed information on the end of the day (dependant on how much progress of the course has been made already). Cancellations: If cancelling your course before 14 days prior to the course date, your booking fee remains non refundable. Any cancellations within 14 days of the course date, will lose their booking fee and remaining balance of the course.
policy updates
These terms and conditions may be updated at any time. The most recent version will always be available here on our website.
patch test & allergy responsibility
Some treatments and products may cause allergic reactions or sensitivities. It is the client's responsibility to inform their technician of any known allergies, sensitivities, medical conditions or previous reactions prior to their appointment. Where applicable, technicians may recommend or require a patch test at least 24-48 hours before treatment.
As all technicians within the salons are self employed and operate independently, any concerns, reactions or issues relating to a treatment must be raised directly with the technician who carried out the service. Clients should contact the technician as soon as possible if they experience:
-
An allergic reaction
-
Irritation or sensitivity
-
Any unexpected results following a treatment
The Lacquer Lounge is not responsible for the services carried out by individual technicians and any concerns must be resolved directly with the technicians involved.
aftercare responsibility
Clients are responsible for following all aftercare advice by their technician. The salon and individual technicians cannot guarantee the longevity of treatments if:
-
Aftercare is not followed
-
Nails are subjected to excessive force, picking or misuse
-
Products are removed or altered by another salon or technician
Any issues with a service must be reported directly to the technician who performed the treatment within 48 hours of the appointment.
personal belongings
Clients are responsible for their personal belongings while visiting our salons. The Lacquer Lounge and individual technicians cannot accept responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged items, including but not limited to:
-
Bags
-
Coats
-
Jewellery
-
Phones
-
Cash or valuables
We recommend keeping all valuables with you during your appointment, and away from any harm such as chemicals or sharp objects.
Our policies are in place to protect the time, businesses and professionalism of our technicians while ensuring a smooth, luxury experience for all clients.
